The modern man’s guide to dressing well every day

Baked beans are a staple of the Great British diet. Whether they’re providing a vital contribution to the all-star cast of the beautiful Full English breakfast, or taking centre-stage later in the day on a bed of toast and butter, they truly are a canned culinary classic.

However, just like almost every other store-bought product, with a little effort you can quite easily create something that blows these little beans right out of the tomato sauce they so happily swim in. That’s right. DIY baked beans are where it’s at and today we’re going to tell you how to DIB (do it brilliantly!) with a little help from the Gran Luchito Smoked Chilli range. This recipe will give you a beautifully spicy and rich smoky flavour. Of course, vegetarians can ignore the chorizo.

Smoky DIY Baked Beans

Serves 4-6

400g haricot beans

200g diced chorizo

200g diced onion

2 chopped garlic cloves

700g passata

1tbsp Gran Luchito Smoked Chilli Paste

2tbsp Gran Luchito Smoked Chilli Honey

500ml chicken stock

2tbsp tomato purée

Soak haricot beans in cold water for at least 8 hours or just over night.

Fry onion, chorizo, garlic and tomato paste and Gran Luchito paste & honey on medium heat until onion is softened (approx. 10 mins).

Combine onion mix with drained beans and passata in a big pan.

Add chicken stock and stir well.

Cook on a very low heat for around 12 hours.

Serve however you would the canned variety. If you really want to go to town on it, you could try making your own sourdough bread!
