Pancake Day (Tuesday 17th February) has to be one of our most favourite days of the year and we’re making sure no one goes the day without some pancakes. Not the best cook? Don’t worry we put together the perfect recipes that doesn’t require any measuring, fuss and taste great!
1 Medium Bowl of Plain Flour
1 Medium Bowl of Milk
Half a teaspoon of Salt
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda (optional)
2 Tablespoons of Caster Sugar
1 Large Egg (lightly beaten)
2 Tablespoons of Melted Butter or Olive Oil
To make the best batter you’ll want to sift all of the plain flour, salt and caster sugar into a mixing bowl. If you want the pancakes to be thick add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Then in a separate bowl you need to whisk together the milk, egg and then the melted butter or olive oil.
Now slowly start to pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture – stirring with a folk as your pour. Once all the milk mixture is in, start beating until there are no lumps. Top tip – you can get rid of any lumps really easily by sifting the mixture into a different bowl.
Next you will need to heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a knob of butter or use oil. Once the butter has melted or the oil has heated add a ladle of batter – wait until the top has cooked and then flip over and keep turning until both sides are golden brown.
