You may be thinking “what summer?” but it’s definitely been warmer outside of late. But alongside the rising temperatures and bursts of sunshine, we’ve also had to get used to the rather too often wash out. Hot and stormy is one way to describe it. So how do you dress during a typical British summer? We took to the streets of London to find some inspiration. Here’s what to wear right now with our pick from Burton Street Style: Lightweight Jackets.
- Grey Bomber
Lighten up an all-in-black outfit with a simple and light grey bomber. Not only will this transform your outfit instantly but it’ll also help to beat the chill when the sun goes down. Whether or not you can wear this to work depends on your dress code but you could always adapt this outfit for the weekend. Swap the Chelsea boots for black leather plimsolls or try a white t-shirt instead of black. Remember to keep fuss to a minimum to create this clean and casually smart look.
- The Mac
A classic single-breasted mac is perfect for unpredictable weather. Not only is it easy to carry but it also offers an extra layer when the heavens open. Go for a neutral colour such as navy or stone as this will pretty much go with anything. Stone works particularly well with a blue denim outfit teamed with desert boots and weekend bag. Or you could keep it smart in a navy mac worn over a smart trouser, overshirt and white shirt combination.
- The Textured Bomber
Replace your sweatshirt or summer knit with a lightweight textured or jersey bomber. This may not keep you dry but it’ll certainly ensure you’re comfortable when there’s a chill in the air. You could keep it casual by teaming with a pair of plain jeans and t-shirt or add some colour with a printed t-shirt. Versatile and easy-to-wear, you’ll probably live in this bomber on off-duty days.
- The Harrington Jacket
Iconic and timeless, the Harrington jacket is a great choice for your warm-weather wardrobe. Functional and comfortable, the Harrington jacket adds an extra layer without bulk so you can wear it on days when you’re not sure which way the weather will go. Team your Harrington casually with a printed t-shirt, jeans and trainers or sharp and tailored with a shirt, jeans and desert boots.
