A crisp white shirt is a safe bet but make sure it fits - get rid of excess fabric will instantly make you look sharp. And now you can choose between regular, tailored, slim or muscle fit and find a style that suits your frame.
Another option to try is the Oxford shirt in classic light blue. Wear with a suit or smart black or grey trousers and you're guaranteed to look good. It also wouldn't hurt to throw a navy or dark grey shirt into the mix. And it's just about acceptable to wear your shirt more than once a week as long as you wear a vest underneath.
Think smart trousers
A pair of well-cut smart trousers in black are standard work wear in any man's wardrobe but you can always switch it up colour and texture wise. Team with a crew neck jumper and formal shoes or white plimsolls if your industry is more smart casual.
Refresh your knitwear
Even if you don't wear a blazer or suit jacket in the office, you can still smarten up your act in a lightweight jumper. Stick to "fine-gauge" knits in grey or black. Wear a crew neck jumper over a tee or shirt buttoned right up. You could wear it with jeans and plimsolls dress code permitting. And if you don't have to wear a shirt and tie to work, you could also try this season's roll neck or knitted polo shirt.
Smarten up the detail
Reboot your work wardrobe with a few new accessories such as a plain or patterned tie. Don't over complicate the situation. Stick to two or three finishing flourishes. In addition to a tie, a smart leather belt will make your look much more stylish. Don't forget to add the details such as your wallet, socks and bag.
Add a new layer
